Bob Koshinski, Vice President and General Manager of WBBZ-TV, is proud to announce that the week of May 19th is “Giants of Buffalo Broadcasting Week” on Your Hometown Television Station.
Irv Weinstein, Rick Azar, and Tom Jolls reunite to share stories of their dominant run as the long running “Eyewitness News” anchor team Monday and Tuesday night at 7:30p.m. in two half hour specials. Irv, Rick, and Tom engaged a sold out crowd this past March as part of the “Giants of Buffalo: Television” event presented as part of the M&T Bank Third Friday’s series at the Buffalo History Museum. John Di Sciullo of WBBZ-TV was co-host for that memorable night. Irv, Rick, and Tom visited the WBBZ-TV studio a few days laterto continue the conversation about their days at Channel 7.
On Wednesday and Thursday nights at 7:30p.m. WBBZ-TV will offer an encore presentation of the “Giants of Buffalo: Radio” special featuring Sandy Beach, Dan Neaverth, Joey Reynolds, Stan Roberts, and Shane Gibson. Meet them again in these two half hour programs. The radio legends got together at the Buffalo History Museum in March of 2013.
The “Giants of Buffalo” series was co-produced and sponsored by the Buffalo Broadcasters Association.
On Friday night at 7:30p.m. WBBZ-TV will present “Women in Buffalo Television” featuring interviews with Susan Banks, former WKBW and WGRZ-TV anchor; Carol Nigrelli, former WIVB-TV anchor ( known as Carol Chrissy then Carol Jasen); Laurie Lisowski-Frey, former WGRZ anchor and WKBW reporter and weather anchor; and Doris Jones, former host of “For The Ladies” on WKBW, weather anchor at Channel 2, and commercial spokesperson.
