Everyone in our hometown is mourning the loss of fallen Buffalo firefighter Jason Arno, 37 years old from Engine 2, who tragically lost his life March 1st fighting a fire in a downtown building.
Our friends at WGRZ.com have posted information on how you can help his wife Sarah and 3 year old daughter Olivia.
There are two verified GoFundMe accounts for the family: one set up by Delton Arno, and another set up by Courtney Englert.
The Buffalo Professional Firefighters Local 282 is collecting donations for the Arno Family. Checks can be made out to Buffalo Professional Firefighters and sent to or dropped off at 500 Southside Parkway, Buffalo NY, 14210. You can also call 716-856-4130 with any questions.
Everyone at WBBZ-TV is also mourning the loss of Jason, as he was a part of our station family…the nephew of our owner Phil Arno. Phil noted to the staff today that “Jason was a great man, with a terrific personality and had a wonderful family. He was a true hero.”
He added, ” I have been receiving and appreciate the many calls and messages of support regarding the loss of my nephew Jason. His sacrifice in the line of duty has touched all of Buffalo and certainly all first responders here in Western New York and beyond. I cannot say enough about the quality of Jason’s character and personality. His quiet smile and dedication to all that was good and honorable will be greatly missed. There is a huge void now in our lives and our family softened only by the pride we share for our fallen loved one. We pray for him and ask for a brief prayer for his wife and child from you as well.”
Our thoughts and prayers are with the Arno family, Jason’s family, and the brave firefighters from Engine 2 and the Buffalo Fire Department.
